Spitfire Resources Limited is an emerging Australian resource company focused on the exploration and development of raw materials for the carbon steel sector. Spitfire is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, ASX Code SPI.
Originally established in 2007 as a spin-off of the Australian manganese assets of the AIM-listed coal company, Churchill Mining PLC (CHL), Spitfire’s flagship asset is the South Woodie Woodie Manganese Project, which covers a total area of 2149km2 in Western Australia’s emerging East Pilbara Manganese Province – a region renowned globally as a major source of iron ore and manganese for the Asian steel markets.
Spitfire’s tenements lie approximately 60km down-strike to the south from the 1.2Mtpa Woodie Woodie manganese mine and in close proximity to several other emerging manganese projects.
Spitfire has defined 3 manganese deposits to date and is aggressively exploring for more in a bid to become a major near term producer of manganese ore. The Company’s core objective is to delineate strategic high-grade (+40% Mn) manganese resources and position itself to capitalise on strong levels of demand for high-grade manganese globally.
Spitfire also has a second strategic minerals asset at its Dogfight prospect in the Northern Territory where the company holds 6635km2 of ground that is highly prospective for base and precious metals.
